Health and care

Health

First of all, you must find a good veterinarian in advance. Not a clinic, but a veterinarian. It's not as easy as it sounds, so read all kinds of forums and opinions about a particular doctor, and consult with your breeder about choosing a specialist.

For the owner, careful observation of his kitten is the best diagnostic technique. An upset stomach, discharge from the eyes, sneezing, excessive salivation and ulcers in the mouth, a kitten limping, vomiting, you don't like the way it looks and it seems that it is not well - all these situations are a reason to inform your breeder or a recommended veterinarian about the situation. The reasons for these situations can be either the kitten's basic adaptation or the onset of a serious illness. If you want to avoid unfortunate consequences, do not hesitate.

Cats, like humans, should receive regular health examinations.

We recommend it once a year:

ultrasound examination of the heart;

complete blood count;

ultrasound diagnosis of the digestive system

By systematically following these recommendations, you will ensure control over your cat's health and your own peace of mind

Care and hygiene

For a comfortable life, your kitten will need a cat tree with a scratching post and a nest, a feeding dish and a litter box. It is not necessary to buy an expensive unusual type of cat tree; in fact, it is enough for a kitten to have a “mountain” from which it will keep a close eye on you and a “hole” in which it will rest. It is quite possible to build such a structure yourself, using reliable fasteners, wood and materials safe for cats (plush, thin carpet, etc.).

For food, you need to buy ceramic or iron bowls with a rubber pad that keeps the dishes from slipping on the tile. Avoid plastic feeding bowls!

You will need

1 pc. - 1-1.5 liter bowl for raw food or canned food,

1 pc -  0.9 liter bowl for dry food or dairy products, and

1 pc -  0.9 liter bowl for water.

Don't forget to wash the plates regularly once a week and periodically scald them with boiling water.

Now let's look at the issue of hygiene.

Bathing. I would like to draw your attention to the fact that a healthy cat with a proper diet, as a rule, always has a clean and shiny coat without a wool balls. If after hygienic washing your cat's coat becomes dirty very quickly and looks unkempt, this is a sign of an unbalanced diet, deteriorating food quality, or health problems, you should consult your breeder or veterinarian.

The frequency of such washing should be no more than 2-3 times a year. For direct bathing, you can use Davis cosmetics (Amazon), which is one of the few quality brands we know in Canada, but be careful - it may not be suitable for your pet for some individual reason. Watch the results of washing carefully and read the instructions. Of course, it would be ideal to visit a groomer with good reviews. But if you regularly bathe your cat yourself from childhood, you will not have any problems with this.

Claw shortening - carried out with special scissors; only the tip of the white claw is cut. Caution: claw trimming above the white line of the claw is very painful for the animal and can lead to inflammation of the nail plate.

Cleaning the ears. Ears should be cleaned as they become dirty with a cotton pad dipped in baby oil. Gently clean the auricle, wiping the entire ear. Remember, if your pet's ears get dirty too quickly, it is a reason to visit the veterinarian
